He probably won't go far, if he can find you - Magpies can get quite tamed and he'll miss you!

I have done the same thing with another species of bird. Raised a fledgling crow and released the bird.

Don't be surprised, Bill, if your feathered boy refuses to leave. If so there's nothing to do but love him.

Hi Mr Bill, many moons ago my sister and I nursed a Magpie back to health. We were advised to keep contact to a minimum so as not to make it too tame. Our patient held a different view and on her release Maggie became a much loved member of the community. My dad once remarked that, “apart from Thelma, the Tavern’s barmaid, she was the most pampered bird in Kent. “ Ps is it safe to type ‘Corvid ‘ whilst not wearing a mask?

To thank you for your kindness, maybe the Magpie will bring you the shiny pretty things it finds!
